TEQIP Workhsop on Machining Dynamics

About the workshop

Machine tools always vibrate, but are not always unstable. Under the action of cutting force induced excitations, these vibrations may easily degenerate into unstable large amplitude chatter vibrations. These unstable vibrations limit productivity, result in poor machined surface quality, accelerate tool wear, damage machine structural elements, and result in prolonged down times.

Objective of the workshop

This workshop will show how it is possible to scientifically quantify the vibration characteristics of a machining process, predict chatter, and make recommendations to eliminate it - thus enabling higher utilization of machine tools.
